Marquis Parker is a business leader, advisor, mentor, and award-winning blogger who has experience formulating strategies and addressing mission-critical issues for organizations ranging from government and public sector entities to global private sector firms.
Marquis has acquired a broad set of educational and career experiences grounded in Strategy, Business Operations, Technology, and Professional Services. In addition, Marquis has served as an advisor and/or Board member to several small businesses and non-profit organizations, including The McGaw YMCA (Evanston, IL), Z-Summit for NextGen Leaders , InstaSafe, The Friends of Sinai Children's Hospital, and Higher Praise Ministries.
Currently, he serves as Global Director of HR Operations, Systems, and Analytics for Relativity, a technology firm that produces eDiscovery software solutions that help clients to manage litigation, investigations, and FOIA requests. In this role, he manages a cross-functional team that drives continuous improvement of core processes within the HR function, develops cutting-edge people analytics and powerful HR workflows, maintains the company’s HR information systems, and addresses a range of tactical people-related concerns for employees. Previously, he was Director of Special Projects, where he managed business-critical operational/strategic projects and drove enterprise change management initiatives with a global scope.
Prior to Relativity, Marquis served as Vice President and Head of Strategy and Business Services for Management Recruiters International, Inc. (a former portfolio company of AE Industrial Partners), where he led corporate strategy and performance improvement efforts, oversaw the professional services business, and led enterprise sales. Before joining MRI, Marquis spent over six years with Aon plc, a global, multi-billion dollar financial and human capital services firm, in multiple strategy and business operations leadership roles, most recently serving as a Senior Vice President of Strategy and Corporate Development.
Earlier in his career, Marquis worked as a Management Consultant at McKinsey & Company, where he advised both private and public sector clients in several industries, including financial services, public infrastructure, utilities, and education. His client engagements covered a range of topics, including post-merger management, organization design, performance transformation, and growth strategy. Following McKinsey, Marquis joined Waterstone Group Holdings, a Chicago-based private equity investment and strategic advisory holding company, where he advised portfolio companies of private equity firms in the Technology and Business Services industries.
Throughout his career, he has been recognized both internally and externally for his contributions and accomplishments. In 2014, Marquis was named by Diversity MBA Magazine as one of its 2014 Top 100 Under 50 Diverse Executive Leaders based on his professional experiences, educational background, and contributions to the community.
Marquis holds an A.B. in Computer Science from Princeton University, an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, an M.A. in Education from the Stanford University School of Education, and a M.S. in Management of Information Technology from the University of Virginia.
