Upcoming change to the format of this blog

I’ll start this out by thanking the aspiring Consultants who’ve been reading and have offered to give me feedback about my case interview preparation slides. Once I have them bulletproof, I’m hoping that they’ll be able to help a lot of people in the future.

For the past (almost) three years, this blog has been all about describing the business school application process, academic experience, and battlefield that is recruiting. I’ve written a ton more than I ever thought I would about my own ups and downs and I hope that it’s been helpful. For a while, I thought about ending the blog at graduation, but hearing that folks are getting a lot out of this makes me want to keep on writing (and serves as a huge counter to the negative emails I was getting from people at about this time last year). Now that I’m finished with B-school and about to re-enter the Real World, I thought it would be prudent to change the direction of the blog.

At the end of next week, I’ll be starting at McKinsey and, with that change, I’ll start writing a lot about the Consulting lifestyle, in general, to give folks an idea of what it’s really like. Everyone hears about the hectic travel and long hours, but I’m hoping to show you guys what else there is to working in the industry and at “The Firm”, in particular. I’m not sure how specific I can be because of confidentiality issues, but, as always, I’ll try to give y’all the real goods on things. I’ll probably write up something next week to sort of close-out the B-school stage of my blogging, but I’ll still continue to answer questions and provide advice on the B-school game and the GSB for anyone who is still interested.
