A major component of this site is a weblog that has had several lives, from its start as a featured MBA applicant/student blog on a separate site to its own presence on the Blogger system and now to its own domain as my personal website.
As you read through the entries, you'll see me go through three distinct phases in my life:
- Pre-MBA experience: Experiences that one typically goes through before matriculating at business school
- Life as an MBA student: Highs and lows of my time as a student at the Stanford Graduate School of Business in much more detail than most would expect to see
- Post-MBA life...and serving as a career/education/life coach to the masses: Responses to questions emailed to me by readers, where I use what I have learned through my own missteps and experiences to help others achieve their goals and avoid making the same misstepsÂ
Free time on a weeknight?…wow, this is nice
I can't believe it...it's a weeknight and i've actually got some free time to write an entry. that hasn't happened in ages. Normally, I'd be plugging away at work on a tuesday night even though we dont have classes on wednesdays, but, in the past week, i've been...
Thanks God it’s Friday
Whew, this has been a long week and I'm thankful that Friday is finally here. I just realized that I forgot to write an entry last night about how the Booz Allen interview went, so I'm playing catch-up now. As I said in my last entry, the interview was at 8am, so I...
Midterms are so…last year 🙁
You know...I thought I'd be finished worrying about midterms when i finished my first year, but I guessed wrong. It turns out that my Corporate Finance elective has a midterm and I just finished spending the betterpart of the last 5 hours getting caught up in my...
Wow, it is so hard to read these companies
You know...one thing I've got to learn is not to trust my assessment of how I did in these interviews. yesterday, I told y'all about how I'd got a second round invite from BCG when i thought I'd done terrible. Well, the opposite just happened with Bain...I got the...
Dang, BCG’s guys must have been hallucinating…
As the title states, the interviewers I had on monday for BCG must've been hallucinating when they spoke with me because I somehow got invited for a second round. I got the call earlier today during one of my classes and the DC office is checkin' for The Kid. I was...
This week’s interviews are finally over
Whew, I'm finally finished with the first round itnerviews I had this week and it was a BEAST getting ready for and getting through them. The first was with Boston Consulting Group on monday and those cats DESTROYED me. I wish i was exaggerating with that one, but I...
It’s tough to chill when there’s so much to do…
One of my goals coming into this school year was to be less involved in things and allow myself to fall-back and be more relaxed...unfortunately, I'm doing a terrible job at it. This is basically how I was for the first two quarters of last year too and it had me...
These companies sure are coming at us early…
I guess I've fallen back into the habit of taking a long time between my entries now that I'm back in school. I spent all summer thinking that I would just be kickin' it during the second year, but my professors must have eavesdropped on those daydreams and decided to...
Your boy is getting mighty old!
What's going on y'all. As the title of this post says, your boy is getting mighty old. Today is my 28th birthday and, after having fiished my first week of Fall quarter classes, I feel like it is my 280th bday. This week's classes had a ton of reading, work, and...
First day of class and a shout out to a classmate’s new company
Today is the first day of Fall quarter classes and it is pretty weird being back in the "real deal" GSB courses. It's great to see all of my classmates again and hear about how everyone's summers went, but, as my professors go over the work that we'll have to do in...
