I’m pretty shocked right now…

Last night, I got a big surprise when I checked my email and saw that I’d been selected as one of the three finalist for the Class of 2006 Arbuckle Award. I know that you guys have probbaly never heard of it, so here’s what the award is given for:

“The Arbuckle Award is traditionally given to a graduating student who, by his or her active participation, initiative, leadership and personal integrity, is judged as having contributed the most to the fulfillment of the goals of the GSB in his or her actions both within the school and society.”

So, as I said above, it was a big shock when I saw my name listed with two other classmates that I REALLY respect for what they’ve contributed to the GSB. The process started with people submitting nominations for the award and, from what the notification email said, there were 62 nominations submitted. Next, a group of seven classmates were brought together to come up with the list of three finalists from what was written in the nominations. I wish I knew who the nominating committee was so I could thank them, but they chose to keep their identities secret. After spending a good portion of last year thinking that my classmates weren’t checkin’ for me, it feels good to know that they’ve given me the honor of being one of the finalist for the Arbuckle Award. I wish they could give the award to all three of us because I think we all deserve it in our own way, but you know it doesn’t go down like that. The winner won’t be announced until gradutaion day, so it’ll be a couple more weeks until I know the result, but I’ll be sure to post about it once it goes down.
