Some of you who have been checking out the MBA blog scene for a while may have come across a blog written by a guy with the pen-name “ForrestGump”. He’s been a reader of mine for a while and he and I have interacted a bit over email, with the common theme that we’ve both had our struggles along the way (me with getting a summer internship and him with Bschools). Well, I just got an email from him giving me an update and he just got his admit to Chicago GSB…given the work that he’s put into the process, I wanted to give him a shout out here. FG, you’re going to love it at Bschool and you’e headed to a great one, so make sure you do it up real big when you get there!!! Congrats, man.

Getting emails like the one below let me know that I haven’t been putting all my business out in the street for the past 3.5 years for nothing.

“Hi Marquis,

You might remember that I have been applying to bschools for quite some time now. Finally, I got an admit to boast of, from Chicago GSB. I am still waiting for the Kellogg WL to work out before I make a final decision – but I am glad that I am at least headed to school this fall.

I wanted to thank you for all your advice (on a personal level, as well as through your blog) and time you have spent to help me out. I believe that all that helped me at some level to sharpen my ability to write essays, structure my case, and present a better picture of myself – and capture that bschool admit which is so very tough for us Indian IT males 🙂

I continue to read your blog with the same fervor which was there when I found your joint almost 2 years back. As you might remember, I too come from an IT background and aim to hit the McK waters soon. I find your blog to be a fantastic source of info – thanks for writing. I hope to keep in touch, and continue learning from you.

Thanks once again for everything. Hopefully I will get to meet you someday and thank you in person.

Have a great weekend.

Cheers, [ForrestGump]”
