A major component of this site is a weblog that has had several lives, from its start as a featured MBA applicant/student blog on a separate site to its own presence on the Blogger system and now to its own domain as my personal website.
As you read through the entries, you'll see me go through three distinct phases in my life:
- Pre-MBA experience: Experiences that one typically goes through before matriculating at business school
- Life as an MBA student: Highs and lows of my time as a student at the Stanford Graduate School of Business in much more detail than most would expect to see
- Post-MBA life...and serving as a career/education/life coach to the masses: Responses to questions emailed to me by readers, where I use what I have learned through my own missteps and experiences to help others achieve their goals and avoid making the same misstepsÂ
I know it’s been a while, but I’ve got a good reason…
What's up, y'all. I know it's been ages since I posted anything up here, but it's not because i haven't had anything to say. I've actually had a lot to write about, but I'm still waiting to hear from the folks up-top at McKinsey about whether I'm allowed to continue...
Back to the GSB for the first time with McK
After spending the weekend helping out with BCSS recruiting at the NBMBAA Conference, I switched gears and hopped a plane to SFO so I could participate in McKinsey's second-year student recruiting at Stanford GSB. While out west, I had to wear two hats and help out on...
Dang, I feel old…yet again
Whew, your boy has made it one more year and reached another birthday yesterday. This officially makes it three birthdays that you guys have shared with me on this blog and that tells me that I've been putting all my business out in the street up here for waaaaaaaaay...
It’s all about the milestones…both big and small
After yet another delay, I'm back with a new update on what's going on with me :-)At the end of last week, I had two major milestones in my time at Atlanta and at McK. The first one is a big one...I returned to the office to find that my box of business cards had been...
I’m really far behind in writing entries…
I know it's been a while since I've posted an entry, but I've been really busy in the past week or so. I didn't realize that everything would start revving up so soon, so I'm getting a lightning fast reintroduction to the Real World. Life at McKinsey is still going...
Time for me to officially become a Consultant
Ahhh, everything that I've been working for in the past couple of years is becoming reality tomorrow morning with the start of my first official study. I was "on the beach" last week and, while it felt strange being idle, I was able to get a lot of little tasks done...
First official day in the office
This is going to be a really short entry because my first day in the office was rather uneventful. I'm starting out "on the beach", which is a consulting term for "unstaffed". Over the weekend, I was a little bummed about that, but, in hindsight, it was good because...
Great first week at McK, but some ATL issues outside of work
What's going on, y'all. I know it's been a while since I wrote an entry, but it's been a busy time for me as I get adjusted to everything. It's been a tough road, but I have most things in order and am ready to get my career off on the right foot.My McKinsey career...
Goodbye to the life of a student and hello to the Real World
I've got to warn you that this is the longest blog entry I've ever written...BY FAR!!!-------------------------As I mentioned earlier, this will be the last official MBA entry of this blog because school is over and there isn't much more about the B-school experience...
Preparing to say goodbye to Palo Alto
OK, this is going to be a pretty short entry, but I thought it was worth it to give a shout out to the Bay area for being my home for the past two years. I'm going to be flying back to ATL on Monday and that'll be the official end to my life in Palo Alto. It took me a...
