Blog: Insights and stories from Marquis

A major component of this site is a weblog that has had several lives, from its start as a featured MBA applicant/student blog on a separate site to its own presence on the Blogger system and now to its own domain as my personal website.

As you read through the entries, you'll see me go through three distinct phases in my life:

  • Pre-MBA experience: Experiences that one typically goes through before matriculating at business school
  • Life as an MBA student: Highs and lows of my time as a student at the Stanford Graduate School of Business in much more detail than most would expect to see
  • Post-MBA life...and serving as a career/education/life coach to the masses: Responses to questions emailed to me by readers, where I use what I have learned through my own missteps and experiences to help others achieve their goals and avoid making the same missteps

I’m pretty shocked right now…

I guess it’s all about who you know…

When you've got President Bush writing you a B-school recommendation, I guess you don't need a college degree to get a top MBA. I wish this kid the best, but all I can say is "Damn"http://www.thecrimson.com/article.aspx?ref=513563

The name of the game is "Entrepreneurship"

The big theme for today is entrepreneurship because that topic has been on my mind a lot lately. One of the classes I'm taking, "Managing Growing Enterprises", has had me thinking about an entrepreneurial career since writing my final paper last week and some other...

Gotta love holiday weekends

It feels good to finally have made it to the Memorial Day holiday weekend. It's been a long couple of weeks and I've pretty much been limping to this point, so some rest and relaxation will be much appreciated. Most of the folks at the GSB have gone out of town for...
